Faculty of Color Workshop and Their Allies

Kayon Morgan, Assistant Professor in the College of Education, and Nursing and Health Profession, and Christine Grant, Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement recently received a Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD Network) grant to encourage authentic spaces for faculty of color on campus. This grant project creates opportunities to invest in the well-being of faculty of color as a means of reversing the marginalization and strengthening retention efforts. The gatherings aim to improve employee engagement in the face of “quiet quitting.”

As part of this initiative, a Black Joy luncheon was held on Feb. 24, 2023, to honor Black History Month, and on April 21, 2023, to discuss the Art of Self Care with Julie Sochacki, (The Office of the Provost). Thanks to all who joined us for these past events.

Join us for the culminating virtual workshop: The Art of Self Care Part II: Sustaining Our Selves (SOS) on Nov. 17, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. We will welcome guest presenter, Dr. Roxane Donovan. This program will be virtual with the intent to offer more flexibility.

We would like to acknowledge the Office of the Provost for their collaboration on this program.
